MLB Betting – Phillies, Giants Make Key Improvements While Yankees Stand Pat

It is hard to imagine that the MLB betting trade deadline has already passed, especially considering the fact that the New York Yankees still haven’t made a move, but that is the case as we enter the final stretch towards the postseason. BJ Upton, Heath Bell, Hiroki Kuroda, and Denard Span all stayed still, but there were a couple of teams that made significant moves to improve their outlook for the remainder of the year.

The Philadelphia Phillies might have done the best sports betting job with the addition of Hunter Pence, who is a perfect fit in the team’s lineup. With a starting rotation that already rivals one of the best that the game has ever seen, the Phillies went out and improved their offense with one of the most consistent hitters in the game. While the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants added Carlos Beltran, a move that they simply had to make to improve one of the worst offenses in the majors, that was a deal that was a little more obvious that had to be made. The Giants outbid a couple of teams to bring in Beltran, and while he adds some power there are still question marks for a team that has taken advantage of being in the worst division in baseball and used it as a catalyst. While the Phillies and Mets had to be considered the big winners, the biggest losers had to be the Yankees, which failed to address their needs in pursuit of the AL-leading Boston Red Sox in the East division.
