Top MLB Rookies To Watch In 2011

Toronto Blue Jays The MLB betting season is entering its second week of action, and already there are plenty of rookies from across the league getting their fans excited for years to come. As baseball betting enthusiasts, we like to be cautious with our franchise's chances at building for the future. However, if this week is any indication, the future looks bright for many MLB franchises. Here is a look at some of the top MLB rookies thus far.

JP Arencibia C Toronto Blue Jays - The future is now for the Toronto Blue Jays, as they are one of the youngest teams in the entire MLB. One of the players leading the way for the Jays this season and hopefully for many more is homegrown catcher JP Arencibia. Through the first nine games of the season, Arencibia has caught five games, while veteran backup Jose Molina has caught the other four games. Offensively, Arencibia is a true power hitter, who can hit home runs with ease, having hit two so far along with five runs batted in. On the other hand, his defense was supposed to leave a lot to be desired, but thus far he's been great for Toronto.

Zach Britton P Baltimore Orioles - Going into 2011, not much was expected from the Orioles, as they once again planned to go through a rebuild, with new manager Buck Showalter. While they spent the offseason spreading the offense around by bringing in several veterans, and stabilizing the bullpen, the team's biggest question mark was their young starting rotation.

If the first two starts of Zach Britton's career are any indication of the pitcher he will become, then the Orioles are in for a real treat for years to come. Thus far, Britton has won both of his starts and held runners to a 0.66 ERA while allowing one hit and one earned run over 13.2 innings pitched.
